We’re proud to have helped support local charities to the tune of £50,000 in 2020. In what’s been a particularly tough year for everyone, charities have suffered great losses in terms of financial and fundraising support and Everun decided to help support some of those that were most impacted by Covid-19.
Everun made donations to several Covid related emergency projects such as The Clare Project which provides support services for the elderly and those who had to isolate. Hero Shield provided face masks during the initial days and weeks of the pandemic when shortages were an issue for healthcare and community workers, our donation helped them continue supplying PPE. Croskeenan Lane Animal Sanctuary saw an increase in abandoned and neglected animals during lockdown and a donation from Everun helped support looking after these animals.
Nexus Northern Ireland, Joy 21, Kilcreggan Homes and Brain Injury Matters have also received support from Everun this year and staff at Everun have a number of fundraising plans ready for when lock down ends.
Nexus is Northern Ireland’s sexual trauma charity offering information and support, specialist counselling and therapeutic interventions to anyone affected by any form of sexual abuse.
Counselling services are available to women, men and children aged 8-16 years, helping them to work through trauma they have experienced and start to rebuild their lives.
Karen Dunlop-Wainright, fundraising engagement officer at Nexus said: “We have delivered our vital children’s support services through a Children in Need funded project. Demand for our services is at an all-time high which has required the charity to seek out and raise additional funds so that we can continue to help and support the most vulnerable in our society. However, we can’t do it alone. We have been so encouraged and motivated by the kindness shown by Everun and the willingness to support our work.
